For 2 years, I served as an After School Team Leader for On the Road Collaborative. During my time as a Team Lead, I built relationships with middle students, encouraging them to find a passion and to stay in school. As a Team Lead, I lead reading time and Flex activity time, a time for students to either do homework or to participate in fun educational opportunities. As a team lead, I also assisted Career Teachers as they taught students after school enrichment courses.
In the Fall of 2016, I was able to teach a Zumba fitness class to students as a part of the program's Health and Wellness Days.
In the Spring of 2017, I worked with JMU's Dr. Diane Foucar-Szocki to co-teach an Emerging Teachers enrichment class.
During the 2016-2017 school year, I served as a TEACH Ambassador for JMU's College of Education. My primary responsibility was to guide students through the admission process into the College of Education. As a TEACH Ambassador, I represented the Secondary Education Department during JMU Open Houses and CHOICES and talked to perspective students about my experience in the College of Education. Once a week, I led tutoring for the VCLA and Praxis Core tests.
