Above are some of the ways I evaluate student work in my classroom. When choosing to evaluate an assignment, I believe it is important to focus on the criteria asked for in the assignment. Students need to know what they supposed to do and I believe analytic rubrics allow students to have a guideline to follow as they work on a graded assignment. For assignments that have any free choice, I find it important to include creativity as part of the rubric. Though creativity, I think it's an important to pushes students to think outside the box. These rubrics are designed to be used in a middle grades ELA classroom.
