Introduction While both NCTE and ISTE provided me with a plethora of resources to work on both my strengths and weaknesses, there are still gaps in what I am looking to learn as an educator. I have perused journals that discuss diversity, technology, educational leadership, diverse texts, and learning disabilities to guide me in my professional development.
Journal #1: English Journal English Journal is a journal from the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). This journal contains ideas from middle and high school English/Language Arts (ELA) teachers about a variety of topics including teaching writing and reading to incorporating technology in the classroom. I came across this journal in my high school methods course and have since been interested in the ideas that this journal has about technology and talking about social justice in the secondary ELA classroom.
English Journal relates to my goal of discussing diversity in the secondary ELA classroom by containing articles by ELA teachers that have tackled discussing diversity in their classrooms. This journal also helps me develop ideas about using technology in effectively in the ELA classroom. The intended audience of this journal is secondary ELA teachers and main topics addressed in the issues of this journals are teaching writing and reading, literature, language, and how technology can be incorporated into the secondary ELA classroom.
Current editors of English Journal are Toby Emert and R. Joseph Rodriguez, who are both past classroom teachers. Toby is now an English education professor and Joseph is now a professor of literacy, multilingual, and multicultural education. Both Toby and Joseph are passionate about social justice and equity in the classroom. English Journal publishes its journal six times a year (September, November, January, March, May, and July) and regularly has themes centered around student focused classrooms, meeting the needs of all learners, social justices, issues of race, equity, and inclusion, and leadership. Contributors to this journal are both current and past middle and high school teachers who want to write based on the theme of these issues. Regular features of this journal include a call for manuscripts based on the next issue of English Journal, poems submitted by members of NCTE, and book reviews. Articles change based on the issue, but are often centered around teaching pedagogies that can best implement the current theme of English Journal. Interested subscribers may subscribe to English Journal through NCTE’s website, subscribers do not have to be NCTE members, but will pay a higher rate for their subscription to this journal.

Journal #2 Educational Leadership I have always been interested in taking a leadership position in the future. I have looked into what it takes to become an administrator or policy maker. To help me learn a a little more about educational leadership, I decided to look into the Educational Leadership journal in the library. The Educational Leadership (EL)journal is published by the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. There is an issue monthly September through May, except for a bimonthly issue for December/January. The primary audience for EL are leaders in elementary, middle, and secondary education, and those interested in curriculum, instruction, supervision, and leadership in schools. Themes of issues range and there are no regular contributors due to the fact that people can send in submissions for the themed journals. Columns included in Educational Leadership (EL) are Perspectives, where editors tackle the theme of the issue, Research Matters, where hot research topics are discussed, Show & Tell, where writers talk about different strategies from teachers, The Techy Teacher where technology teachers share useful strategies, Principal Connection, where principals write about their experiences as principals, and Bonus Content Online which is bonus online content of each journal. EL also offers around five to six bonus online content that relates to each journal. It varies from more articles, videos, and interviews that go deeper into the theme of the journal.

Journal #3 Kappa Delta Pi Record I joined James Madison University's chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society in education, during my junior year of undergrad. While I was involved with the JMU Chapter, I never utilized the resources that my membership provided. Katie suggested that I check out the resources that KDP offered and I decided to explore this journal with her. The Kappa Delta Pi Record is a peer-reviewed journal that has research based articles on hot topics that It is published quarterly by Kappa Delta Pi in partnership with Taylor and Francis, which is an international academic publisher. Each issue has a theme that all of the articles focus on, like Secondary Education or Child Wellness. There are no regular contributors due to the fact that the Record takes submissions up to three issues in advance. The audience of the Record is for national and international teachers at all levels and different disciplines, though most of the subscribers of the journal are members of Kappa Delta Pi. Main Features include a Table of Contents, Thematic Feature Articles, and Department Articles.

Journal #4 Journal of Education I was in the Carrier Library Periodicals section trying to find a research-based journal. I couldn't find any I was particularly interested in after perusing a few different ones. Katie recommended that use the journals that she had found and after reading through them, I decided to use these journals as well.
